Jeff Horner

Jeff Horner is Risk Manager for the Hormel Foods Corporation. He has held this position since 2000. He oversees the risk management function including contract review, directing company property loss prevention program, the designing, marketing and procurement of various insurance programs along with involvement with mergers and acquisitions and oversight of the company’s business continuity plan. He is also Vice President of Hormel’s captive subsidiary, Diversified Foods Insurance Company, and is charged with oversight of the day to day operations of the insurance company.

Prior to his role as Risk Manager, he spent the first 15 years of his career at Hormel Foods Corporation as an Industrial Engineer involved in project work including product costing, labor standards, process layout and ergonomics at various company locations. He presently serves on the Minnesota Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Board of Directors as the National RIMS Delegate. He has also served as Vice-President and President of Minnesota RIMS. He leads the Consumer Food & Beverage Industry Group at the Annual RIMS International Conference.

He received his BS in Industrial Engineering from North Dakota State University. He holds Associate in Risk Management and Associate in Captive Insurance designations.
